Marketing and Public Relations Intern | Beija Flor Naturals

For three months, I fulfilled the role of Marketing and Public Relations Intern for a beauty line, Beija Flor Naturals, whose natural products have been featured on New York Times, Vogue Japan, and Essence. I had the opportunity to draft emails and research social media influencers to writers at fashion/beauty magazines in addition to communicating with some independent makers and in store customers. I also designed flyers for Bay Area promotional events and even edited product labels. Working for an online beauty company’s and in store development enhanced my skills in communication, design, and collaboration. More importantly, Bejia Flor Naturals was an incredible experience and taught me about the beauty industry.

Co-Founder of The YouTube DeCal

One day, my friend and I thought it would be cool if Berkeley had a class that would emphasize the impact of YouTube as a platform and the YouTube community. After many sleepless nights, we were able to create a syllabus and talk to the UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business to sponsor our course. The next semester, we were able to offer 30 Berkeley students to enroll in our course and receive semester unit credit for our course, UGBA 198, called “The YouTube DeCal”. Throughout the semester, we analyzed and learned about online trends and marketing strategies used by YouTubers. In addition talked about the development of the YouTube platform itself and how it encouraged other forms of business derived from these online communities. My role included leading and preparing weekly lectures and in class discussions in addition to grading midterms and final presentations. It was a remarkable experience and was awesome to meet students who were passionate about media.

FreshU Staff Writer & Politics Writer

For three years, I pitched and wrote articles for Fresh U, an online publication for college students and partnered with Teen Vogue. From Berkeley protests and maintaining long distance friendships to interviewing political meme pages and researching Mark Zuckerberg’s Congress Testimony, my work at Fresh U was challenging but provided a foundation for my writing and communication skills. I had the opportunity to communicate with a team nationwide, uphold strict deadlines, and work on articles for my peers that aligned with my passion of entertainment and politics.

Production Intern | beyond the whiteboard podcasts

Production Intern for beyond the whiteboard working specifically under Julie Foucher’s Pursuing Health Podcast

From May 2019 to September 2019, I had the opportunity to learn techniques and help produce podcasts that discuss the topic of health featuring guests such as USC’s Director of the Longevity Institute Dr. Valter Longo. Specifically, I edited video and audio for bimonthly podcasts for Pursuing Health with Julie Foucher, a 4x CrossFit Games athlete. Following a script and using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, and Adobe Photoshop, I was able to complete episodes 114-120. In addition, I created thumbnails for each episode and short 1 minute clips that would serve as promotional content for Julie’s Instagram page as a story or a post.

CalTV Post Production Director

Previous Positions CalTV |News Community Bulletin Editor, Video Editor, Assistant Director

As the previous Director of the Post Production Department of UC Berkeley’s TV station, I not only collaborated with different departments to create full length videos for the UC Berkeley community but also edited Instagram stories and CalTV outreach projects with different Bay Area companies. My videos range from reviewing scripts as well as editing videos breaking news and political events to movie premieres and comedy skits.

In addition, I approved and delegated videos for our video editors as well as lead weekly Post Production department meetings. From looking at scripts to late night editing with producers, I enjoy the process of creating videos behind the scenes. But more importantly I enjoy the people I collaborated with daily.

Also, I worked in a small group to work on projects that partnered with other companies. Not only did I have the opportunity to tour the Adobe Headquarters in San Jose but also the chance to act and produce a video for Adobe executives that showcases the educational use of Adobe Software Rush. In addition, I also produced a video for VAVA, specifically to advertise their new Dash Camera. I organized shoot locations, coordinated schedules, and even directed the actors and actresses for our video.
